Born in the Netherlands, I lived in London for many years, interrupted by four years spent in Montreal, and then moved to California.From an early age I have had an immense love and need of color and form which eventually led me to painting. At first I painted in oil, nowadays mostly in watercolour and in acrylic.Although my paintings have recognizable subject matter, much of my work deals with the interplay of dark and light, both in technique and mood. Perhaps it is my Dutch background that makes water and its reflections such a favourite subject matter. However, my range of subjects is extensive.
