Diane Ekings Fairfield’s paintings reflect her joyful passion for art and life and their expressions of beauty, both in the natural and the spiritual realms. This passion is evident in the vibrancy of her work achieved uniquely through rich colors and textures and non-traditional techniques. Her free flowing style would be categorized as impressionism, expressionism, and abstractionism. Within these styles three themes dominate her work: landscapes, animals, and prophetic work (spiritual or visionary); often these three are interwoven. She finds inspiration both from the environment and from God and many of her paintings are inspired by Scripture or directly from God through visions and images. Her expressed desire is to create art that inspires, instructs, provokes and encourages.

Working primarily in oils and mixed media, Diane’s impasto and layering techniques give many of the works a three dimensional quality. Often she either utilizes or creates substrates of uneven surfaces to add to this sense of depth, dimensionality and interest. Many of her works utilize metallic elements and/or iridescent paints which enhance the vibrancy of the paintings and create whispers of light-reflecting sparkle.

Diane was born in New Jersey, USA and raised in New England. At the age of 5 she knew she wanted to be an artist. Although her life and career in human resource management have taken her in many divergent directions she has always pursued art through both study and practice and now engages in it full time. Currently she lives in a spectacularly beautiful high desert environment in the southwest USA.

Her paintings are compellingly in their use of light, color, space and perspective - elements that are critical to her artistic vision. She utilizes these elements to portray the sense or impression of what she sees and desires to say rather than the detail, which she believes can be captured in other art forms.

Her work is in private collections from coast to coast across the USA.
