David L.Scholes was born in 1968 and educated in Cambridgeshire, England. A budding artist his boyhood dream was to become an architect, but circumstance prevented this from happening. Instead, he trained as a specialised cabinet-maker. This would be a career that would take him around the world. In the early 1990s, he traveled to the Middle East working in Dubai, fitting luxury boats. In the UK, he worked in promotions, managed public houses, and manufactured on a free-lance basis. Following a period of stagnation, David decided that it was time for a change of direction in his professional life. It was at this point in 2003 that he joined the Reserve Army as a volunteer and kept a photographic journal of his experiences whilst in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2008 David self published a semi biographical account of his time serving with the Army, a book titled without prejudice which received mixed reviews.
