Bris (Brit Milah) is a Jewish ceremony of circumcision on the eighth day after boy's birth. It symbolizes entry of the boy into Abraham’s covenant with god. It is an important event in the Jewish community. . This piece is painted on archival canvas with highest-grade paints and covered with UV-protective varnish. It was a part of my private collection for many years. Niko Pirosmani (1862–1918), was a self-taught Georgian Primitivist painter who posthumously rose to prominence. I always admired Pirosmani’s work and in this painting treat figures in somewhat Primitivist way.
