I drew a series of these drawing when I was in my 50s. I've always loved quilts. Maybe I should call these drawings quilts. They are stream of consciousness drawings. For these pieces I never drew preliminary sketches or planned them out in any way. They were always drawn directly, pen to paper, starting at the upper left hand corner and ending at the lower right corner. In between I just let the paper talk to me and whatever came out is whatever came to me. They were fun to draw. I enjoy looking at them much the same way I enjoy looking at a quilt. I've called them "quilts" before. I've called them "mosaics." Today I'm calling them "Tapestries" because they are.

There is an appeal to illustration that transcends subject. My drawings are a reflection of nature. My drawings are my meditation. Somewhere, even in deconstruction, there is the promise reconstruction. My drawings are my Ouija board. I ask questions. My pen gives its answer.
