Michael began his professional career as a photographer in 1978 after graduating from the University of Michigan. The early years were formative and heavily influenced by his involvement with the Darkroom- a communal darkroom in Chicago available to both amateur and professional photographers. It was through the Darkroom that Michael began shooting Rock and Roll. Michael started working for Photo Reserve, an agency that specialized in event coverage, and music venues. This short but very prolific period led to an incredible archive of almost 300 performers and bands including, but not limited to Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Elvis Costello, Rush, Blondie, Talking Heads and the Police. Michael's career expanded to include fashion and portrait photography including Oprah Winfrey, Cindy Crawford, John Malkovich, Jim Belushi, Jennifer Beals, and Dennis Hopper. Michael's work was featured in Vogue, Esqure, Vanity Fair, and other national publications. For the last 20 years, Michael has focused on architectural and real estate photography. Michael's real estate photography has been seen in the Wall Street Journal, The NY Times, Architectural Digest and is considered to be one of the top real estate photographers in NYC. At the center of Michael's illustrious career lies heart and soul. Michael's artistry is revealed in his unique ability to capture the beauty of a moment amidst a flurry of activity, or the unique essence of a person. His deeply human eye affords the viewer the same opportunity, ultimately connecting us more deeply to our own humanity.
