About The Artwork
This famous lighthouse at Cape Elizabeth, Maine USA has been painted several times by the great Edward Hopper. Being a great admirer of his work, I paid tribute to him with my version of the subject. The play of light and shadow, the volumes of the buildings and the contrast between architectural straight lines and organic shapes of the rocks create a a multi-aspect scenery. Before working on the acrylic on linen canvas, I did a watercolor sketch (also posted on Saatchiart). Excecuted with professional quality Winsor & Newton pigments on pure linen canvas, streched on a solid pine frame. Protected with 4 layers of anti-UV acrylic varnish. The finished sides and steel wire make it ready to hang.
