This piece is an exploration of the symbolism intrinsic to the figure of Exu, the messenger of the Orixás. Inspired by minimalism, it seeks to capture the subjective essence of this orixá's role in mythology, highlighting his uniqueness and depth as a divine intermediary. The rough texture and abstract shapes, inspired by concretism, translate the variety of emotions and messages that Exu transmits between the worlds. Elements of pareidolia suggest veiled human expressions in the piece, inviting the viewer to connect with the mysterious and multifaceted figure of Exu. Under the influence of brutalism, the raw texture and pronounced contours symbolize the strength and resistance present in the Exu archetype. This creative process becomes not only an artistic expression, but also a journey of liberation and self-expression, finding in concrete a material language to transmute personal experience into a narrative of transformation. The piece "Mensageiro de Exu" establishes a bridge between African traditions and contemporary artistic movements, inviting the viewer to explore the complexity of this ancestral deity through this reinterpretation.
