The images show women's mouths immersed in the act of eating ice cream - a sensual experience that is simultaneously linked with moments of transience. Drawing on classical mythology, the image of Tantalus is invoked here, who suffered eternal torment by having food and water always just out of reach. In contrast, the women in these images can experience the sweet pleasure of ice cream. The contrasts between desire and satisfaction, between transience and pleasure, are powerfully expressed through this series.

The focus of ARTURUTRA is mouths. Yet these fragmented bodies do not conform to classical portraits. They often resemble staged still lifes. The works are characterized by a narrative ambiguity. The viewer sees and must fill in the missing elements themselves. Perhaps they view with the eyes constantly absent in the works. Then, the depicted mouths speak with the inner voice of the observer.
