About The Artwork
Finding my way with gestural marks in charcoal. Layering paint, oil crayons, pastels and graphite. Wiping, scraping or sanding back to reveal earlier layers. Intuition guides the process eventually finding pleasing shapes, which start to make the story. I hope, whilst visibly pleasing, the piece provokes the viewer to find a their own narrative. Although my work is time consuming, often getting worse before it gets better, I love the process and a feeling of satisfaction on completion. Thank you for looking.
